Dear Teachers and Students,

Worried about keeping up in an English-taught class?
Want to review NTU COOL videos and ask AI questions without switching between different tools?

The COOL AI Learning Companion is here to help!

With the app, you can:

Follow along in class with real-time bilingual subtitles.
Review after class by importing NTU COOL videos, taking notes, and asking AI questions.
Check your understanding with AI-generated quizzes and track your learning progress.

For Students

➤ Keep up with class
If your instructor has enabled real-time subtitles, enter the class key provided by your instructor to view bilingual subtitles on your computer.

➤ Review anytime
Import NTU COOL videos into the app and use subtitles, notes, AI Q&A, and quizzes to support your learning.

➤ Check your learning
Ask AI to generate questions based on course videos and check your understanding as you learn.

A few things to note:

The app currently supports macOS and Windows ONLY.
YouTube videos can NOT currently be imported.
Real-time subtitles MUST be enabled by the instructor, and the classroom MUST have recording equipment.
Video viewing records in the app are NOT synced to NTU COOL. To keep your viewing record, watch the videos directly on the COOL platform.

For Teachers

➤ Offer real-time bilingual subtitles
If your classroom has course recording equipment, you can contact NTU COOL to apply for the real-time subtitle service. It can be especially helpful for English-taught courses, classes with international students, students who are deaf or hard of hearing, or courses requiring subtitle support.

➤ Already have videos on NTU COOL?
No additional setup is needed. Simply upload AND publish your course videos on NTU COOL. Students can then import them into the app and use subtitles, notes, AI Q&A, and quizzes.

A few things to note:

Real-time subtitles are available ONLY in classrooms with automatic course recording equipment. Instructors decide whether to provide the class key.
Screenshots and screen recording are disabled to help protect course materials.
By default, speech recognition, subtitle translation, and AI Q&A use models operated by the Center for Teaching and Learning Development. Course content is NOT sent to commercial AI services.
