Dear Teachers and TAs,

When you enter the Grades page, do you usually only use it to enter or post grades?

Have you ever wished to sort students’ grades based on different rules?

Want to remind students who haven’t submitted their assignments yet?

Want to download all students’ assignments at once so you can grade them later?

Or do you want students to be able to see their scores and the correct answers immediately after completing the quiz?

If you have any of the needs mentioned above, be sure to read this issue of our newsletter. We will introduce some COOL grade-management features that only the PROs know about! :)

On the Grades page, click the icon “” on the right side of each grading column to expand the functions within the red box in the attached image.

Below are some practical tips. For the full version, please refer to the User Guide.

 

1️⃣ Want to switch grade posting policy: Grade Posting Policy

There are two ways to post grades in the Gradebook:
A. Manually – Grades are hidden by default. You can choose when to post the grades for an assignment or quiz. Students will only be able to see their grades after you post them.
B. Automatically – Once grades are entered, students can see them immediately.

▶▶▶ NTU COOL uses manual post as the default setting for all assignments and quizzes. If you want students to see the answers and their scores immediately after completing a specific quiz, you can adjust the grade posting policy for that item individually by changing it to post automatically. This will meet the requirement described above.

2️⃣ Want to sort students by grades / submission status: Sort by

▶▶▶ You can sort by “Grade – Low to High, Grade – High to Low, Missing, Late, Excused, or Unposted,” making it easier to review overall grades and submission status.

 

3️⃣ Want to send messages to specific students: Message Students Who
▶▶▶ You can choose to send messages to students who “Haven’t Submitted Yet, Haven’t been graded, Scored less than, or Scored more than,” allowing you to contact all students matching the criteria at once.

4️⃣ Want to download all students’ assignments with one click: Download Submissions
▶▶▶ This feature works for all online submissions (including Text, Web URL, and Upload), and downloads them as a ZIP file quickly.
