Editor's Note

In this issue of “NTU Alumni News”, we have provided our readers with some important and honorable NTU news. In the “Special Report” column, three distinguished NTU alumni-Dr. Burn-jeng Lin, Dr. Mao-chung Chang, and Dr. Lee-lueng Fu- were awarded U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE) membership. In the “Honors” column, NTU achieved good results in Webometrics’ ranking-NTU website ranked the73rd in the world and the 2nd in Asia in January, 2008. Furthermore, Professor Ja-ling Wu, Professor Chorng-kuang Wang, and Professor Pai-chi Li are elected as 2008 IEEE Fellow, which makes NTU own the highest number of IEEE Fellow in Taiwan! Professor Din Ping Tsai also attracted international attention and became a Fellow of the American Physical Society.

For the “Research Achievements” column, we want to share great pride with our alumni. In the 2008 International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), NTU has seven theses accepted for presentation at ISSCC, a feat that remains unrivalled in the world! Also, chronic research of professor Shinn-Chih Wu on florescent pigs was reported in a documentary named “Super Pigs”, which was broadcasted worldwide in National Geographic Channel in March 2008!
