TA: “I just edited the course announcement. The students should automatically get a system notification, right?!”
Instructor: “Oh no! I accidentally deleted some assignments and quizzes that shouldn’t have been deleted. Is there any way to recover the files?
Or do I have to ask students to resubmit everything?”
TA: “A student submitted their assignment late and wants to turn it in now.
How should I handle that?”
Instructor: “A student was absent from this quiz due to a leave of absence. Is it possible to make the quiz available only for this student to take a makeup test?”
Do these situations sound familiar to you, dear instructors and TAs?
Don't worry! Master these three quick tips and you’ll handle these issues with ease.
1️⃣ Repost Important Announcements After Editing!
Reminder to instructors and TAs: The system only sends an email notification the first time an announcement is posted. If you edit the announcement later, the system will NOT notify course members of the changes.
If the changes you made involve important information, please post a new announcement to ensure that all members receive a notification.
2️⃣ Use Keywords to Recover Accidentally Deleted Files in One Click!
If you accidentally delete assignments or quizzes, take advantage of the ‘/undelete’ function.
To recover deleted items:
Go to the course “Home” page, then add /undelete at the end of the course URL to access the list of all deleted files.
For example: https://cool.ntu.edu.tw/courses/xxxxx/undelete
Find the deleted content (e.g., an assignment or quiz), click “Restore”, and the file will be recovered.
3️⃣ Make-Up Submissions & Quizzes Are Easy to Set Up!
Go to the edit page of the Assignment or Quiz > Assign To & Set Time (do NOT change the settings assigned to the whole class) > Scroll to the bottom and click “+ Add” > Reassign items to specific students (e.g., for make-up exams or late submission), and set the available/close/due times accordingly.
