演講摘要
I will describe major trends in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia, including trends in marriage, family structure, transition to adulthood, and aging. Related to these trends, I will touch upon related issues on gender roles and policies.
講者介紹:
Wei-Jun Jean Yeung is Provost’s Chair Professor of Sociology, Founding Director of the Family and Population Centre, and a Research Leader in the Asia Research Institute in the National University of Singapore (NUS). Before joining NUS in 2008, she was in the University of Michigan and New York University. Professor Yeung is a member of the board of trustee of the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore and an international advisor to the Institute of Social Science Studies in Peking University. She was a co-principal investigator of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics, the longest running panel survey in social sciences, and has advised on many international panel surveys. She is/has been on the editorial board for leading journals such as the Demography, Journal of Marriage and Family, and Journal of Family Issues. She has received many awards including those from the National Science Foundation, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and National Institute on Aging. She has published widely in top social science journals. Her research interests are in American and Chinese family demographic changes and how they relate to children’s and young adults’ well-being. Her recent publications include edited volumes on Asian Fatherhood, Growing up in One-Parent Families in Asia, Transitioning to Adulthood in Asia, Marriage in Asia, Living Alone: One-Person Households in Asia, and Economic Stress, Human Capital and Families in Asia.
