發報操作說明 Publisher Guide

只要有 email address（校內或校外）皆可自由訂閱。Anyone with an email address (on or off campus) can subscribe freely.

快速訂閱：經由電子報首頁連結進入任一刊物，在該報網頁畫面頂端點選 訂閱本報，立即訂閱您有興趣的刊物。Quick subscribe: from the e-paper home page, open any publication, then click the "Subscribe" button at the top of that publication's page to instantly subscribe to the titles you're interested in.

某些發報單位（特別是系所）預設匯入該系所教職員生的 email 作為基本訂戶，因為發報者認為這是與您相關的重要刊物訊息。故您不妨先瀏覽看看，倘若不感興趣，仍然可以修改您的訂閱設定。Some publishing units (especially departments) import the emails of their faculty, staff and students as default subscribers, because they consider the publication relevant and important to you. Feel free to take a look first; if you're not interested, you can still change your subscription preferences.

2006 年五月以前校內各單位欲發送電子信息時，皆以發全校為主，故即使您不感興趣也必須收到。提供臺大電子報訂閱系統服務就是為了讓使用者可以自行選擇有興趣的刊物來訂閱。Before May 2006, campus units sent electronic messages to the entire university by default, so you received them even if you weren't interested. The NTU E-Paper subscription service was created precisely so users could choose for themselves which publications to subscribe to.

為了推廣此服務，計中的政策是為所有發刊的創刊號寄送全校邀請訂閱，同時每個月寄送全校電子報總覽月刊以免您漏失重要信息。因為該刊物一旦創刊後，發報單位寄送的訊息就只有訂閱者能收到囉。To promote this service, the Computing Center's policy is to send a university-wide subscription invitation for every inaugural issue, and to send a monthly campus-wide e-paper digest so you don't miss important information — because once a publication has launched, only subscribers receive its messages.

從 2006 年五月到十月為止，校內創刊號共發出 35 份，電子報總覽共發出 5 封。另外根據統計顯示截至 10 月底止本系統已發出 158 期電子刊物，若照以往發送方式是會以全校寄送方式處理。但本電子報系統上線後，發送對象已縮小為訂閱戶，若您並未訂閱任何電子報，您已經少收到 120 多封電子郵件。Between May and October 2006, 35 inaugural issues and 5 digest issues were sent campus-wide. Statistics also show that by the end of October the system had sent 158 issues; under the old method these would all have been sent to the whole university. Since this system went live, delivery has been narrowed to subscribers only — if you haven't subscribed to any e-paper, you have already received over 120 fewer emails.

所以您收到的應該是新發刊物之創刊號及電子報總覽月刊，倘若不是，請務必通知計中 管理員，讓我們為您處理！So what you receive should be inaugural issues of newly launched publications and the monthly digest. If that's not the case, please notify the Computing Center administrator and we'll handle it for you.

您必須是校內具有公務帳號之一、二級單位。You must be a first- or second-level campus unit that holds an official account.

請參考微軟網站，做 IE bug 修正；或者安裝 FireFox，一個免費、快速更好用的瀏覽器。Please refer to the Microsoft website for the IE bug fix; or install Firefox, a free, fast and better browser.

由於信件內容是存放於資料庫中，所以每封信件文字內容限制為 “A string with a maximum length of 16,777,215 characters”。Because message content is stored in the database, the text of each message is limited to “A string with a maximum length of 16,777,215 characters.”

同時我們發現若將 Word 檔案轉成 HTML 格式時，Word 會在 HTML 中加入很多格式設定內容，導致檔案變得很大，故建議編輯信件內容前要先檢查 HTML 原始碼，將不必要的格式設定刪除即可。We've also found that when converting a Word file to HTML, Word adds a lot of formatting markup that makes the file very large. We therefore recommend checking the HTML source before editing and removing any unnecessary formatting.

1. 所有退信會導回給發刊者的 email 信箱，也就是您在編輯信件時的寄件人信箱。故若有退信時，您將會收到由對方 email server 寄出類似 “Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender” 的信件。All bounces are returned to the publisher's email address — i.e., the sender address you set when composing. When a bounce occurs, you'll receive a message from the recipient's mail server similar to “Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender.”
2. 從管理頁面右方功能表進入「使用者」功能區搜尋檢視詳細訂戶資料，您可以判斷該 email address 是否錯誤或不存在，而決定是否將該退信訂戶取消訂閱您的刊物。From the right-hand menu of the admin page, open the "Users" section to search and view detailed subscriber data; you can judge whether the address is wrong or nonexistent and decide whether to unsubscribe that bounced address from your publication.
3. 若您對某些退信之 email address 有疑慮時，歡迎通知我們，讓我們為您處理。If you have doubts about certain bounced addresses, feel free to notify us and we'll handle them for you.

您可以在您的單位網頁上公佈您的電子報之專屬歷史報區網址，方便用戶查詢！You can publish your e-paper's dedicated archive URL on your unit's website for users' convenience.

（關於資料探勘 Data mining）以計中電子報舉例說明如下：(About data mining) Using the Computing Center e-paper as an example:

以本平台訂閱資料為探勘的資料來源，並利用關聯規則（Association Rules）發掘資料來源。Using this platform's subscription data as the source, association rules are applied to mine the data.

我們的演算法是使每份刊物推舉與其關聯性最高的三份刊物作為候選人，再由運算結果得知有 4 種其他刊物皆將計中電子報列為前三名的候選人。Our algorithm has each publication nominate the three most closely related publications as candidates; the results show that 4 other publications all list the Computing Center e-paper among their top three.

基本統計資料 Basic statistics

總共：正式寄出的總信件數Total: total number of messages officially sent.

純文字格式：寄出的純文字格式（撰寫電子報時的格式設定）信件數，包含測試信件Plain text: number of plain-text messages sent (the format chosen when composing), including test messages.

html 格式：寄出的 html 格式信件數（撰寫電子報時的格式設定），包含測試信件HTML: number of HTML messages sent (the format chosen when composing), including test messages.

兩種格式：寄出純文字與 html 格式信件數（撰寫電子報時的格式設定），包含測試信。PDF 與兩種格式：目前尚未提供。Both: number of messages sent in both plain-text and HTML (the format chosen when composing), including test messages. PDF and "both" are not yet available.

User tracking 統計資料 User-tracking statistics

請注意：訂閱戶瀏覽您的信件時必須開啟圖檔檢視，才會被計數。Note: a subscriber is only counted when they enable image viewing while reading your message.

瀏覽人次 — 您的信件被訂閱戶開啟檢視的總數，包含同一個訂閱戶多次開啟您的信件。Views — the total number of times subscribers opened your message, including multiple opens by the same subscriber.

瀏覽人數 — 您的信件被訂閱戶開啟檢視的不重複人數。Unique viewers — the number of distinct subscribers who opened your message.
